Interpersonal therapy, or IPT, is one of the treatments carried out by our counsellors at Doncaster Talking Therapies.
It is used to treat the symptoms of depression and looks at the link between depression and relationships with others.
This means it can be used as a treatment for patients whose depression may be linked to:
- Loss
- Differences of opinion in a relationship
- Wanting healthy relationships
- Adjusting to significant events in your life such as divorce, retirement or the diagnosis of an illness.
IPT aims to help people recover from the symptoms of depression by:
- Supporting them to better communicate with others in their life
- Addressing problems that contribute to depression
